OCALICONLINE 2020

To ensure the health and safety of the 3,000+ participants who typically attend OCALICON each year, OCALICON 2020 is transitioning to a completely virtual experience this year. Introducing ...OCALICONLINE. The same great event you know and love, simply in an online format. OCALICON stands as the nation's premier autism, sensory disabilities, low-incidence disabilities, and assistive technology conference, bringing together a cross-section of professionals and parents who utilize a variety of products and services at home, work, and in the community. OCALI is excited to continue its ongoing partnership with the Ohio Department of Education’s Office for Exceptional Children by integrating the 2020 Inclusive Education Leadership Institute with OCALICONLINE. From state and national leaders, to educators, service providers, policymakers, families, and self-advocates, this event has something to offer everyone. Learn more about keynote presenters, breakout sessions, and how to register at www.ocalicon.org. Follow event updates on social media using #OCALICON2020.

And don't miss our poster session, Give Me A Break!: Choosing the Right Kind of Break for the Needs of Your Student, on Friday, November 13th at 11:30am. There are many types of breaks that students may benefit from, each with their own distinct purpose. In this poster session, we will discuss the importance of implementing a concrete plan for reinforcement breaks, sensory breaks, and spontaneous breaks to help students self-manage "in the moment". Without a plan, expectations can be unclear and may lead to behavior problems or work avoidance. Attendees will learn about when and why to implement each type of break and examples will be provided.
