A Framework for Teams to Support Generalization of Social-Emotional-Communication Skills: This presentation illustrates a framework for educational teams to help students generalize social-emotional and communication skills across settings using the Four Pillars of Performance, the 4 P's: Practice, Priming, Prompting, and Praise. This framework stresses team collaboration and consistent implementation of evidence-based practices.

Thursday

Collaborate to Calm Your Classroom Using Internal Regulation and Social-Emotional Supports: During this hands-on interactive session, an intervention specialist and an occupational therapist from the Montgomery County ESC's Autism and Low-Incidence Coaching Team (ACT) will assist educational teams in developing a collaborative implementation plan to facilitate internal regulation and social-emotional skills in the classroom setting. A variety of tools and calming strategies will be shared for both individuals and groups of students.

Merrily We Roll Along: Removing Obstacles on the Social-Emotional Learning Path: This session will present an overview of the social-emotional competencies identified by the Collaborative on Academic and Social Emotional Learning, and discuss the specific challenges in this area of learning that can arise for students with autism. Particular attention will be focused on the sensory and communication characteristics of autism that can impact social-emotional learning. Participants will engage in activities to explore and apply evidence-based strategies to support social-emotional learning for students with autism.
